Our Approach To Care

‘The Hybrid Model’

At Focus Care Supported Living Limited, our care model is person-centric, celebrating the unique identity and life circumstances of each individual we support. Our practices are guided by the CQC’s “Right Care, Right Support, Right Culture” framework, which champions choice, control, and independence for all service users.

Our Approach

We employ a diverse team of support workers, each bringing a range of models and methods to meet the distinct needs of our service users. Our commitment to inclusivity and excellence in care is evident as we adapt roles to optimally utilize our resources, especially in response to staff shortages and the challenges posed by the pandemic.

Hybrid Model of Care

Our hybrid model addresses the varied skills and staffing requirements, as well as the personal needs of our service users. It is grounded in evidence-based practices and theoretical frameworks that support individuals with learning disabilities and autism effectively.

Holistic Integration

We adopt a holistic approach, integrating care theories such as the Roper-Logan-Tierney Model of Nursing and Dorothy Orem’s self-care deficit theory. This provides a robust structure for care that is both task-focused and person-focused. Florence Nightingale’s environmental theory also informs our practice, optimizing the environment for the well-being and recovery of those we support.

Guiding Principles

Our guiding principles of care include:

  • Empowerment and Autonomy: Encouraging active participation in life decisions.
  • Diversity and Respect: Valuing each person’s life experience and identity.
  • Flexibility in Service: Providing responsive services tailored to individual preferences.
  • Strength-Based Approach: Recognizing and building upon each individual’s strengths.
  • Inclusive Support Networks: Collaborating with support networks as partners.

Staff Development

Through comprehensive in-house training, including the Oliver McGowan mandatory training in autism and learning disability, we ensure our staff are proficient in these principles and their practical application. Our goal is to enhance the lives of those we support through a comprehensive, person-centered model of care.

Focus Care Supported Living Limited: Empowering Independence

At Focus Care Supported Living Limited, we are devoted to empowering the individuals we support to live as independently as possible within their own tenancies. Our approach is centred on providing personalized support that encourages autonomy and self-reliance, while ensuring that each person has the necessary resources and assistance to thrive in their own home.

Promoting Independence

Our services are designed to support individuals in managing their daily activities, making personal choices, and maintaining control over their lives. We believe in fostering an environment that not only provides the necessary care but also champions the independence of our service users.
