Frequently Asked Question

What is a CQC inspection and why does it matter?

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) is the independent regulator of health and social care services in England. They inspect providers against five key questions: Is the service safe? Is it effective? Is it caring? Is it responsive to people’s needs? Is it well-led? A CQC rating gives families, commissioners, and the public an objective measure of quality — and Focus Care’s Outstanding rating is the highest possible.

Outstanding is the top rating the CQC awards. It means the service consistently delivers exceptionally high-quality care that goes above and beyond what is expected. For Focus Care, it reflects strong leadership, genuinely person-centred support, safe practices, and a culture where staff and the people they support are valued and heard.

We don’t treat the rating as a one-off achievement. Our leadership team runs continuous internal audits, staff training cycles, and governance reviews aligned with the CQC’s ‘Right Care, Right Support, Right Culture’ framework. Feedback from the people we support, their families, and our staff is actively gathered and acted on. The goal is for every day to meet the standard the CQC saw on inspection day.
