Regional Operational Manager

Sandra McMillan

Background My journey into the care sector began unexpectedly. Originally aspiring to be a chef, I pursued this career until family commitments necessitated a change. When my children started school, working split shifts did not work so I went back to school taking on the role of a school cook. As my children grew older, I found myself with more time and eventually transitioned to working as a chef at a children’s home. This was a pivotal moment for me, as I discovered a passion for supporting children with complex needs. Over the next 12 years, I dedicated myself to Children’s Services. Seeking to advance my career, I enrolled in college to college to gain qualifications and moved to different aspects of the care sector to fill gaps in my knowledge and education. My vision of care emphasises the importance of both the people supported and the staff and support workers. The values are based on listening and hearing and making sure everyone is supported to make choices and live their best life.
